Anyone install the remote starter??? I am probably going to get one, but wanted to know how everyone likes it, and how the install went.

I'm getting mine done tomorrow to replace the heated fold away mirrors that the window stickers says that it had. I'll let you know how it goes, I've been told that it can take up to 3 hours to do it.

Are they going to install a bigger battery since it takes up to 3 hours to remotely start your Patriot? Does the engine crank the whole time? Do you hold down the button on the remote continuously, or push it once and let your little Jeep grind away? If it really takes that long, maybe they should make the horn "blat!" every 5 minutes or so, just so you know the remote starter is still working.;)

And remember to leave the 5spd in neutral. I can just see the car rolling down the street while some old guy in his pjs is jogging down the streeet after it...

Can you get remote starts on manuals?

Can you get remote starts on manuals? You can but since you have to hold down the clutch it defeats the purpose :D

I was hoping maybe there was some way of bypassing that through the remote start

so got the remote starter put on and after 2 weeks of it not working, they've decided to warranty the alarm bypass module. The alarm goes off any time that the alarm is armed and the remote starter is engaged. You only have to press the button twice and will only try to start 5 times. I'm just pissed with the level of incompetence among three different dealerships dealing with the bypass module and not wanting to warranty a part that they didn't sell. Not totally a big deal though as long as it's working by winter.

Man, sorry to hear about that...

Does the starter work without the alarm activated?

yeah, it does work but the alarm light keeps flashing. They ordered a new bypass module and should be here in like 3 weeks but they said it may have been backordered. As long as i have it before the winter, I'll be fine. Really sucks not having a garage to park it in.

drummajo3, that is a MOPAR accessory. How could they not warranty it?

Dealer descretion?

Are you saying that to start the Manual Pat you need to hold in the clutch even when in neutral? That is a bad look if it is true.

They didn't warranty it because the installation is not on warranty but the parts are. Come to find out it a bad alarm bypass module which is of course on back order and will be waiting a while to have replaced. But it is being warrantied here in town even though it was installed 80 miles away.

I think that is fairly common for cars with manual transmission. I know my 2001 Corolla requires the clutch pedal to be depressed to start the car.
