What is the elapsed time for?

Not sure, haven't figured out a really good use for it. I imagine it'd be good on a long trip, maybe measuring how long the drive was, etc.

its fun to monitor your mileage with the EVIC -
I had it to 32.3 today!

Is the average mpg average for the life of the car or average for the fill-up?

Does the EVIC come standard on the Limited or do you need the drivers convenience group?

You can also set:
- US or Metric measurement (miles per hour vs. kilometers, gallons vs. litres
- Language

- Two Trip odometer settings - Trip A and Trip B. (not sure if that's only available on EVIC)

The fuel mileage is the average until you reset it. I tend to do that on every fill up but will keep it accruing on a long trip.

oh good to know!
I have only assumed that it is the total average

Because my Pat Sport had already been ordered by the dealer when I signed the deal, it was coming with the EVIC as part of the "popular equip group" that I really wasn't originally planning to get. Now that I have it, I think it was worth it. It's one of those things I had to live with for awhile to appreciate the usefulness of it.

An important note to all of the EVIC users: The calibrations for the average fuel economy are sometimes off by a % or so. So for the first few trips, verify with a manual calcuation against your displayed result and make sure your computer is accurate.

I reset my average MPG on the Liberty once a year. Every year I end up around 15.7 - 15.9MPG average.

The same applies to the DTE setting (if it's still included) When the DTE indicates 0 miles left - you can typically drive for another 10 minutes before really running out of fuel.

I like the EVIC, and have noticed that the fuel economy was a little lower than what I calculated. The radio station display is the best, and the outside temp.

It's so neat to have the Sirius station displayed on the EVIC. I drive around all day with the word "Sinatra" in fluorescent letters right in the middle of my dashboard. For an old Italian, that's ring-a-ding, baby!:smiley_thumbs_up:

In the Limited (at least from the account of my vehicle) the open door notification is displayed by a graphic of the door which is open. I like how it shows the 4 doors one way, and then the hatchback it displays a side view of the vehile with the hatch up in pixel art :)

Anyone with the EVIC noticed that when your low fuel light comes on, the Distance to Empty screen only show's low fuel. I dont like that. I wish it would still dell me the DTE.

I don't have my pat yet, but the EVIC on my explorer has a reset button so you can continue to see how many miles to E. The reset works in different ways for different features - hit by accident and reset the average mpg.

Phil - What do you mean "verified not working"

I was told one time it's because when it gets that low Chrysler does not want to be responsible for you running out along the road.

When it gets down to say 3-20 miles before you are dry that's a pretty fine line and if the sensor isn't spot on and says 10 more miles to go and actually you are empty...well.... I could see someone calling their lawyer and saying 'SUE' cause I was stranded when the car said I shouldn't have been.

I had always figured it was because the sensor just didn't go that low in the tank.

Cheers,
Jim

I've verified that my TS ON warning works. It takes a while for it to trigger, I don't recall how long, but it will happen. This is in case you are sitting at a long light waiting to turn. You wouldn't want it to come on after 45 seconds or so....

Does anyone know if the Jeep Pat w/o EVIC can be added on later. I have an 08 jeep Pat (the only one the dealer had) came with just about everything I wanted except the EVIC. I had one in my last truck and really came to like it. I have seen the a few after market ones but I was hoping that I could just use the one in the dash.

I asked my dealer the same thing.

He said, anything can be added for a price, but they would have to replace the entire dash instrument cluster and that it wouldn't be cheap.

I am going to get a ScanguageII (http://www.scangauge.com/)eventually. Mount it somewhere nice.
Should tell you everything the EVIC does minus Sirius info.

If you hear any different on the install/price, please let me know.

Jim
