: adding tow hooks to a non-FDII Patriot?

I am still waiting on my FDI but was wondering if anyone else was considering adding tow hooks to their non-trail rated patriot. If so have you thought about how your going to go about cutting the bumpers to match the FDII? Or are you considering a different mounting position?

I think the bumbers (front and back) have cut outs for the hooks that are not included in non-trail rated models

no, the holes are not actually there it (unless they are the punchout type) looks as if they will have to be cut out. I am thinking of using a hole cutter and a dremel cutting wheel... but we will see.

Jeepjim is correct, There is no where to install them. When I got mine it took me a while to figure out how to strap it down on the car trailer. Good luck cutting them out if ya do it!

Well my Patriot finally got out of customs and was delivered to the stealership in mannheim late this afternoon. I have the first available appointment time of 1030 tomorrow to pick it up... Sometime tomorrow I plan on stopping by a Germany Dealership to see how much they will charge me to put them on and cut the holes...

Can use one of these on the back, (if you have a hitch installed) but don't know what to do for the front, just wait for hidden hitch to make a front mounted one like they have at the bottom of this page. The front mount winch mounting plates looks interesting also.

yes those are cool, but with the hitch hanging down below the bumper line it would take away from my approach angle. By having a body shop or dealership cut the appropriate holes it would look stock, and not diminish current specs.

How did it turn out?
Any pics?
I was also wondering if there was a good way to mount tow hooks on the front.

Well, I will post pictures once I get it down (waiting on parts), but jcwhitney has tow hooks that supposedly work with the Patriot. I have a quote from a body shop for $150 for labor. sorry can't post the link but part #813476 TOW HOOK SET BLK $15. Body shop guy said that he thinks they should work too, but if by chance the webpage or his interpretation is wrong (jcwhitney is usually good, from what I hear, but its a new model, so who knows for sure) his cool parts program says he can order a set for $100 that will definitely work. Both of these are the external hooks. For the mopar ones, our dealer can order the set for $150 but won't install and I am too scared to try to cut the fascia on my own.

Well, I got the tow hooks from jcwhitney, the do fit the Patriot, but they are not just drill in like my body shop guy thought. They require the same cutout (basically) as the factory ones. After seeing these, he wasn't super confident that the ones he could order would work by just drilling a hole in the fascia for putting the bolts in. So, no tow hooks yet for me...

I have come up with a way to add tow hooks, shackles or whatever else you like without cutting the bumper up. There is another post on here but it wont let me post the link.

quiff69,
If you would just manufacture a couple of those with a centered 2" reciever so we could put our front plate in it! Alex and I would forever be grateful....................
