: Rear Tanneau cover
AZSanTan 06-02-2007, 08:52 PM I am looking to get the rear Retractable Cargo Area Cover s it didn’t come with the Sport. Wanted to see if I could find it online before resorting to order it through the dealer. Has anyone seen it online? I see it for the Compass, however not sure if they both use the same model number.
Thanks!

I have not been able to locate one. I even asked the dealer and they didn't have it in their parts book for the patriot either. The man at the parts counter said he will call DC and find out about it.
I would assume the cover would be the same as in the Compass though.
jeepmuck 06-19-2007, 08:53 PM I'm surprised you don't have one, as I have a Sport E pkg. and I have one. I really don't use mine that much. Unless you carry a lot of valuables in the back or really have something to hide or conceal, I find it gets in the way most of the time!
thejeepmonster 06-20-2007, 09:53 AM Covers should be standard in all open back/trunk area vehicles...go ahead, smack into something and get whatever you store back there in the back of the head...

I find when ordering parts just go to a Chrysler dealership and say can you please order this Jeep part number for me... That's it, don't explain what it is or why you need it. I have tried to get them to find parts before and they never can, if I have the part number I never have issues. I already ordered the shifter bezel (the one that says off road) because I put a nice big gougle in mine. The dealership said that there is only one part number and it is the same for both the trail rated and non trail rated. I pulled the piece off and it had a different part number right on it.
kapalacc 06-20-2007, 12:23 PM But they are pricey! They have superseded to part number YF75DK7AB for the beige colored cover. The damage? $215.

Makes me glad I got my Patriot with the cover as part of the deal.
As to why use the cover, It is really nice to have to cover to not only keep prying eyes off of things on the back cargo deck but it also helps keep the sun off of stuff. Passive solar heating can really cook stuff on the back deck. Since I am often transporting musical instruments (guitars, banjo, mandolin, etc.) it makes a great deal of sense to keep BOTH prying eyes and the Sun's rays off of stuff back there.
The interesting thing I found with my Patriot is that I have the partially reclining back seat so there are two different positions you can place the tonneau cover's anchor bar end - one right up against the back of the seats and the other a little ways back to permit the reclining feature to be used.

Hydronaut 06-20-2007, 01:30 PM Still a bit crazy, but they are $169 US here.

Yes they are, same part #.
kapalacc 06-22-2007, 02:27 PM Actually, looking around I've seen a few different part numbers, but none of the Compass and Patriot ones coincide... Also, I see the cargo area for the two are just a wee bit different...
I have the tonneau cover (came with the "popular equipment group" option), and its nice to have.
Having said that, I also own a hatchback with lightly tinted rear windows. I had no tonneau cover for it and never missed it. just bought some black fabric from Wal-Mart, and used that to cover whatever I had back there. In combination with the tinted glass, the black cover itself was virtually impossible to see.
If you carry cargo that is taller than the level of the Patriot tonneau cover, you might have to remove it. Which is easy to do 'cept then your cover becomes part of the cargo.....
