: Ideas for Aftermarket companies...
JeepJim 05-31-2007, 03:05 PM Ok so the aftermarket for this truck is about to explode and I think it would be a good idea of we, the enthusiasts begin to voice our opinion on what we as a whole want for our trucks.
Here is a list of things I would like to see made:
- A rear swing mount for the spare tire (like on a wrangler).
- Front bumper like the one on the orange SEMA Patriot.
- Another Front bumper similar to the one on the SEMA Patriot but with a Winch mount.
- A programmer that allows us to reprogram the speedometer and odometer for larger tires (like the superchips 3715 I used in my durango).
- Obviously a lift kit!
- Possibly a Brush/Grill Guard (definitely would depend on design).
- Last but not least a better designed center console.
Anybody else have any ideas for products they want produced? Speak now or forever hold your peace. In other words don't complain if you don't ask for it.
JeepJim 05-31-2007, 03:08 PM Yeah I guess this could have gone in General Topics, but most of my ideas were exterior...
silvermike 05-31-2007, 03:17 PM Simple ones:
An organizer for the opening below the radio. Better drink holders that are inserts in to the existing drink holders.
Rottenbob 05-31-2007, 04:00 PM - A rear swing mount for the spare tire (like on a wrangler).
This is my most-desired after-market accessory; a swing-away mount for the spare tire. Or, better yet, a spare tire mount that attaches directly to the liftgate and beefier liftgate arms to support the extra weight.
Also, custom plugs to cover the holes in the bumper for those of us who don't have or want fog lights.

I'd like to see a replacement gate altogether... horizontally split so that the window folds up, and the lower half drops down tailgate fashion. That would dramatically improve usefulness.

Huntyeraws 05-31-2007, 06:01 PM A kit that could transform your orange Patriot into the SEMA Patriot concept. :smiley_thumbs_up:

Jimmy TJ 05-31-2007, 06:29 PM Dang-it! This Jeep was supposed to be the one I left alone and didn't modify(yeah right!!) but if everyone keeps posting that awesome looking Patriot I'm gonna spend money on a set of Moab wheels real soon.
I would personally like too see a nice simple brushguard setup, I'd like some more front lighting(though the stock headlights are great!) but I don't really want to mount them to the front bumper.
Alex Norwood 05-31-2007, 07:06 PM I still want that rack with the lights.
True North 05-31-2007, 08:14 PM Never mind the lights, I just want a rack that extends closer to the front of the roof.
Claynotmud 06-01-2007, 02:47 AM Bush grille with winch.
Light bar for the roof.
That roof rack for sure.
Alex Norwood 06-01-2007, 03:40 AM OK, have the Limited and I don't really like that shiny bumper. What is under there if i yank it off? Is the regular sport body colored bumper under that thing.
I guess if I could find out what font and size that is, I could get a graphics place to make me some letters to put in the silver bumper, might tone it down. ( But might also be tacky) Hmmm.
JeepJim 06-01-2007, 04:00 AM Maybe you could carefully remove the panel, if you don't like what you find you could use automotive grade double sided tape. Or if you do not have an issue with morality you could take it back to the dealer and say it fell off.
Personally I was considering buying these aluminum panels and painting them flat black to match the door handles and the roof rack (I ordered a sport). I think that will set off the whole silver sport and make it somewhat original.
wssprout02 06-01-2007, 05:55 AM this is one thing that is very difficult to find, only crutchfield has it, but the manufacturer's website doesn't have it listed yet. It's made by scosche , and it's a installation kit for an aftermarket stereo.
Dawson 06-09-2007, 09:20 PM Other than a CRD swap? I would love to be able to purchase the lift-gate speaker kit! Does anyone know if the lift-gate is pre-wired for the speaker kit. Shouldn't matter I guess, afterall I do work for an A/V company! Just a pain the butt to post-wire.
I would also greatly appreciate a tail-gate style setup instead of the lift-gate, course it is nice to sit out of the rain under the lift-gate while camping.
Off-road accessories! Cool roof rack with tire mount and spare fuel tanks, and hard-covered storage for durability and aerodynamic performance. No sense in buying an eco-Jeep if you're gonna hang a bunch of stuff off it and ruin the MPG, right?

Thank you! I thought that I was the only one on the planet that didn't like the minivan-style liftgate.

Interested in this as well.

To some it would improve usefulness, others not so much. We often hang out outside siting in chairs behind the patriot while watching my daughter play and it blocks the sun very well. My son normally sits in the back and plays with toys while my daughter plays on the playground when we go to the park. I wouldnt have bought the patriot if it had the split gate like your talking about. It just wouldnt be usefull for me. Im short and it would get in the way while loading and unloading.

That's what minivans are for. ;)
There are dozens upon dozens of vehicles with a minivan style liftgate. I can think of only the Honda Element that offers a tailgate and lift-window. Jeep offers other vehicles with liftgates, but none with a tailgate. The original Jeep wagons had a tailgate and when it comes to hauling things, liftgates don't cut it.
Freezal 06-15-2007, 07:38 PM I would have liked a lift window and lift gate combo the usefullness of the current config with a lift window to just be able to toss stuff in the back.
A truck tailgate would not have been a good idea to me you would lose the rear wiper which is a feature I use in the rain/mud quite allot.

The Honda Element has a tailgate and lift window and has a rear wiper.
Freezal 06-15-2007, 08:07 PM that is not really a lift window more of a lift 1/2 gate I was thinking more of the lift window in my explorer.....
