Hi,
while i´m already registert since a few weeks i guess it´s time to introduce myself.
Ok, i´m Rends from Rendsburg a small town 1 hour north of Hamburg/Germany.
Currently i own a Opel Zafira minivan for my family (wife,2kids,1 dog) but i´m sick of driving a minivan for over 8 years now and my wife and me always wanted a Jeep.
Found infos about the Patriot on the internet wich will be in store here in august and finaly i made it to this board :)

In the meantime i´m looking forward to hear about your experiences with your Patriots :smiley_thumbs_up:

Hey Rends welcome in deed. I too am in Germany, currently live near Darmstadt but will soon be moving near Vilsek in the coming months. I have just finished the paperwork for a Silver Sport with 5spd and 4 wheel drive. Do you plan on wheelin' it or will it just be used for everyday commuting? I think it would be a great way to see the beautiful country here in Germany.

Anyway welcome, and I hope we both enjoy our future trucks. I was just wondering how many others here are interested in or have already bought their Patriots that are also located in Germany and Europe.

Guys,
thx for welcome.
Well i´ve no plans for regular wheelin but i might do it here or there just for fun.
And yes i want the Pat for everyday commuting and from what i´ve read so far it can handle this job very well.
I talked to the local Jeep dealer the other day and he told me that he sold 2 Compass since april (the month of introduction in germany) . but i´ve not seen any of them on our streets yet and it´s still a few month ahead before he get a Patriot in Showroom.

In the meantime i absorb every info and image i can get about the Patriot so please go on posting feedback and more importand images about your truck :)

Welcome, Rends.....I lived in Germany for three years with the US Army, Baumholder, Idar Oberstein area (Rhineland Pfalz). LOVED it. The food, the beer, the people, everything. I actually did some training up around Hamburg, just south around Neuenkirchen and Bergen Belsen area. Anyway, let us know when you order yours, I ordered ours on April 3rd and we are expecting it around the 2nd week of June.

Well I just got back from my test drive and it drives quite nice. Its stable at speeds, yes even autobahn speeds. I also performed several lane changes at different speeds and was comfortable how it reacted for the most part. It seems pretty twitchy though if the wheel is jerked quickly at about 75 mph. Obviously I would normally never do that and only did it to see how it would react if I needed to perform an emergency lane change or something to that nature. I also took it up to 95mph at one point and noticed the tachometer was reading an even 4,000 RPMs. So yes speed will more than likely kill that nice 29 mpg quoted on the window sticker. The white one I tested had the wheel and tire package (but was not trail rated since it had the 5 spd) and the road noise was fairly quiet and I would consider it comparable to my Durango. As far as power goes the engine is very smooth but does seem a litttle anemic in comparison to others in this class but I believe its due to the gearing not the actual engine. The tranny and gearing is what most would expect from an off-road worthy Jeep. Meaning the ratios are very low when compared to other vehicles in its class, shoot and those above it too! In fact this thing really brought back memories of driving grain trucks when I was a teen ager living on the farm and found myself shifting very quickly in town.

I think it will be interesting to see how my wife likes this truck as it will something like she has never had before with such low gearing, and I have never owned a 4x4 since I left the farm. I think she enjoy it during the winter (she's from florida) and hates driving in snow.

Hi JeepJim,
where did you get your Patriot from you used to testdrive?

Just wonder because they are not listed on Jeeps german website and my local dealer told me that they won´t get any until August.

I am lucky enough to be stationed here in Germany and have access to American spec cars. The down fall to this is I also have to pay for the shipping from the US to Germany. :( But it will be worth it as I was very pleased how it drove on the A-5 today.

Well you should post images anyway :)

The one I am buying is in Bremmerhaven right now and it should be delivered to me no later than the 8th of June and I hope to god it doesn't take that long... I wish I had the time to go pick it up at the port!

But as soon as I get it I'll try to get some pictures of it cruisin' down the A5 or A6.
