I have tried to post pics for everybody to look at, but all the files are to big to post. i am not the smartest guy when it comes to computers. The pics I have tried to post are from 3 megapixels down to .3 megapixels. They are all way to big. Any help would be great. I use a Mac. Is that part of the problem? T:(

Yep. Has to be below .08 megapixels to post or .2 megapixels for the gallery. Note I cannot get the gallery to work as it leaves me in a constant "uploading" state. I use Firefox so that may be the issue.

I use a product to edit and resave the image called iwatermark. It's primary function is to watermark pictures but it has a great batch compression utility. On the other hand photoshop, microsoft pictures, etc. all have similar functionality for compression / reformatting.

Photoshop is king of the hill for graphic processing, but is pricey. Paintshop Pro (Corel) is a reasonably priced alternative, but only runs on the PC platform. The idea is to compress the JPEG image file using software. Software can reduce the dimensions (height and width), but also how much picture information makes up that image. A picture that is the same size can actually be a smaller file size (kb or kilobytes), depending on how much compression. If you compress too much, the image starts to look pixelated. Check out Tucows for freeware software for the Mac platform. There is also a free program called GIMP for the Mac, which has simliar features to Photoshop. This may sound like a foreign language if you're not graphic savy, but it's not that hard to pick up. About.com is a good place to find tutorials. Good luck. :)

I have download for Irfanview it works like photo shop but is free. Go to your search and type it in and it should pull a sight up for a down load. When you get this program open it and you can go and open your pics and go to the top of this window and it will say image. Click on that and it will say resize, or you can hit ctrl+r and it will do the same thing. Its easy to do. Make the width box when it pops up like 500 and hit ok. It will resize it and then you go and resave this pic. So I hope I will not loose you on this, and helps you out and so we all can see pics of this patriot!!!

A great tool for reducing picture file size is from microsoft: powertool picture resizer. free download from microsoft site. Once you have it, all you have to do is right-click on the file in explorer and choosewhich size you want it. You don't even have to open the file. It works great.

Are lots of you having issues with the Gallery? What's happening exactly so I can look into it.

Thanks and sorry for any problems! :(

files stay in perpetual "uploading" I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.3 as browser and files are well below 200k

Tried Foxfire and Microsoft IE, same problem. Seems to freeze part way through upload. Had a few uploads work fine, but others after many tries did not.

Weird, I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.3 as well and I just had an upload complete almost instantly.

I know this sounds silly, but try logging out of the site, clearing your cookies AND cache and then close your browser.

Re-open your browser and then log into the site. Try uploading again and let me know if it works.

Sorry again guys....we'll figure out why it seems to only be bothering some people.

No problem with single picture uploads today. Kept the file size to under 100k. Was using explorer this time so don't know if it was a Firefox problem.

Thank you for your efforts!

Well I tried this and I still have 2 stuck in the queue. I'm using IE. I think one was over the 200k limit (I clicked the wrong one) but I believe the other size was ok. I don't know DMAG can you clear out the queue?

Hi DMAG, i've tried uploading pics that are all around 155k each. But there're all stuck in the upload queue for the past 5 days. I tried uploading smaller pics, doesn't work. Using IE 7. Tried the 'Skip upload and process files already in your upload directory' option, doesn't work. After hitting the Upload/submit button, all I get is blank page with the following address: http://www.jeeppatriot.com/gallery/uploadphoto.php
And it just sites there. I have to hit the BACK to get back.

Help. Thanks
