"Did Chrysler just tip its hand on the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee . . . ."

Yeah I think they not only gave us a look at that but also the new 300. Taking a look at the whole report, it is real deep reading. It is also a real splash of cold water as to just how serious this whole thing really is. The Fiat deal is interesting but after looking at the "close the doors" plan I sure hope they manage to save it.
I am going to have to read it a couple of times just to understand the basics though. I am no accountant.

Every time they change the Grand Cherokee I like it less. (and I never liked it to start with) Jeeps should look like the Patriot, Wrangler and Commander.

I'm not convinced that Jeep needs a vehicle with the 3rd row seating. Of all the GC models, I am starting to like the ZJ (1st model) styling the best, even though my wife drives a 2nd gen WJ.

Of course, for me, nothing compares with my beloved XJ. Almost to the 300,000 mile club:Racing:

Agreed. Every time they redesign it looks more and more like a minivan. Although I wouldn't kick an SRT8 out of bed!

Where you going to put your trailer hitch? Talk about a worthless Jeep because of that.

Agreed, each redesign makes it look more and more like the illfated Pacifica.

They really could call this latest one the Pacifica JR.

Don't ypu think they kind on planned to eliminate the GC and replace it with Commander? Then the Commander sales were poor, (I can't understand why, I love that car!) so they kept the GC.

This one is bigger than the existing GC; it's very WJ in exterior design though; comparing the spy-shots on the bottom of the front bumpers, this is most likely the bare-naked metal.. truth.

Looks like a Nissan Murano contaminated our gene pool and we got some kind of hideous cur.

Agree, looks like Grand Cherokee became more like Grand Vitara. OK maybe a little Grand-er

I agree, if thats the new GC, thats really boring looking! I like the current one, although it reminds me more of a Range Rover and I like the ZJ as well, never cared for the WJ.
If anything they should've done something like this instead, (still love this rendering):

Have you noticed the newest Dodge Ram has a grill that tips foreward like the cars of the 60s and the wonderful rendering of the, would be, new Wagoneer?

It is probably a compromise for aerodynamics to increase mileage.

It resembles the new Dodge Charger.

I believe I read it on Allpar.com that the new design, while appearing to be less aerodynamic, actually increases fuel mileage.

I kinda like it, the new GC... would like to see the rear view. Though I do think I prefer the current GC model ('05-current), particularly the Euro version... without the N American slab of rear full-red taillights. It just makes it look cheap...
I do admit that the future GC definitely looks more like a family luxury crossover than a trail-rated/urban SUV.

I just hope they make it so I can fit. One of the many reasons I chose my Pat is I can sit in it comfortably, and get in and out easily. Something I can't do in the "Grand" Cherokee. Of course if it looks like that abortion in the picture, it'll be a moot point as I'll never buy one. Maybe it's soon to be platform mate the Durango will look better.

Seriously, if you were a major car company, would you really consider releasing this into the world?
Although the new GC looks japanese IMO also, I do quite like the styling.

Okay, I feel I have to defend the G.C here......Hey folks, this is a great vehicle....I have owned the following G.C.'s: 2000 Ltd v6, 02 Overland, 04 Overland, 06 Overland Hemi, 08 Diesel Overland (still have this one)....

It has a great ride both on and off-road, the diesel has great performance and great fuel economy for a mid-size SUV both city and highway and the interior is upscale and very comfortable....

I am looking forward to see the new one online (debuting at the NY auto show) and take it for a test drive sometime in 2010....hopefully down the road they will come out with an EV version as well.....

Personally, I think it has been one of the best-looking SUV's on the market for over a decade and has the true DNA of a real off-roader to boot ....
