Hey Cheffy, since you're in the UK and I assume you have an FDI. Where do you hook in your chassis to tow people out of the snow? Do you have a hook out of your trailer hitch? Or tow hook installed? I know that stock FDI's don't come with anything that is sturdy enough to hook ropes onto...

That is not so in Europa.
For Compass for example, rear (removable) hook:

and the same hook in the front:

Tony1911 02-12-2009, 02:19 AM The removable tow hooks are the same for Patriots as well.
And, again, careful with that front hook...

Hi Stocky
I have a tow hitch fitted, as i have a trailer that i tow, and you are right the standard hitch loop would be big enough, i also have an attachment that enables me to put 4 bike onto it!
mark50d 01-24-2010, 11:09 AM How did you guys find the tyres in the snow? I am counting down to getting my new Patriot (just under two weeks to go) ......... currently have a Caliber and found the Conti Premium Contact 2 tyres not so good in the snow, think the Patriot has the same? In fact a couple of weeks ago I had to be dragged out of a car park by an old Landy
Also, how is the 4wd capability in general? I used to have an old Nissan Terrano before the Cali and I must say it was very good. When we had heavy snow a few years ago I lived in High Wycombe which has very steep hills. In the Terrano I selected 4wd manually (4-high) and it tackled those snow covered hills no problems. Did not need to select 4-low.
Hope to chat to many of you more and more when I get my new motor :o

tiptronic 01-24-2010, 02:00 PM Got rid of my Conti's on my Caliber , I swapped to Pirrelli Scorpions . I also have them on my Patriot---Good enough for British snow !
Not had a problem with the Conti's myself but I know that they are more of an all season tyre.
faceman 01-24-2010, 03:01 PM same here, no probs with the conti's:)
mark50d 01-24-2010, 03:47 PM Cheers guys, maybe I won't get the chance to try them out in the snow again til the end of the year ............ mark
Jonno 02-20-2010, 02:21 AM I've had zero probs with the snow, I was quite impressed with them conti's for an all terrain! Still replacing them with Hankook RF10's if I can get them from US tho' cos I want bigger tyres anyway.
Unless anyone can reccommend a good 235/65/R17 tyre available in this country.....
daveski 02-26-2010, 08:00 PM I live in Scotland and just had about the biggest single dump of snow - need to fit spots to roof bar as snow is higher than headlights. link to local ski area www cairngormmountain dot co dot uk to give an idea of conditions. (first post so cant put link in)
So far the Patriot has been brialliant in snow but want to go skiing, any advice on snow chains?
Steveo55 02-28-2010, 07:07 AM I discovered my anti lock brakes work at least. Not happy with the Conti's on the ice though.
BritPat 03-05-2010, 11:53 AM Hi I live in Scotland,we have just had the largest amount of snow here in Perthshire for decades. The Patriot did not let me down at any time throughout the week.
Must admit to a little bit of smugness as I eased past more expensive 4x4's that were having a rough time in the deep snow, though a lot of the time it was the driver at fault and not the vehicle.People should read the manuals when they purchase the car.
greenfintry 03-06-2010, 04:14 PM The Conti's are pants on snow!! I am waiting for the crazy prices on winter tyres to drop and then hitting mytyres/delticom for a set of Nokian winter tyres: had these on my last couple of 4x4's and they are fantastic, great on snow and hard wearing... Should be about £100 a corner, but currently £150!!
