Hi all!
I know that there is a thread about Patriot and its problems but i think that it would be better to conduct a poll so we have a visualisation of its reliability.I hope you all vote.

Good idea Stergios. Of course the most representative result would be if people that own Patriot more than a year or so vote for this poll. My Pat is 1 month old, so I don't have any problems ... yet. Would you count my vote for "not at all"? It's usefull to have an idea of what problems to expect to come though.

You're right my friend but let's have some indications of what to expect. In the other thread talking about reliability, there are cases in which even very new cars had problems.Your idea of conducting a poll on the long run(owning the car for 1 year or so ) is very good.

Gas gauge did not work properly, fixed under warranty.
Broke anti-roll bar connect, fixed under warranty. (This one might or might not have been entirely the factorys fault... The suspension has had to work for a living a couple of times.)
Aw crap, forgot to add rattles to the poll. Had the bouncing hood syndrome, hinges adjusted under warranty.

Owned my Patriot for 14 months.

My last vehicle dumped coolant fluid on a road trip while under one year old... I consider the Patriot to be an improvement over that. :) (Said vehicle also bent its anti-roll bar connects and screwed up the tire alignment when I fought my way through a snow storm to get home... No such problems with the Patriot so far!)

No problems, no regrets in having my Patriot. All vehicles have their issues, some more than others. I feel the Patriot have a very good reputation from personal experience as well as fellow members here.

I checked rattles, but that is almost unfair, because it was just a seal that needed to be conditioned and is fine now.

So its half a vote for rattles and half for no problem.:D

and would have to say no problems,
any issues are minor,
1 issue with supposedly bad tranny fluid at 20K miles, but that was more dealer aggravation than jeep issue.
and deep freeze causing a molding around bottom of windshield to come loose, i just pop it back in every now and then. no biggie.
door panels seem warped, not flush all around,
if it was a $60K mercedes may be furious,
but a $20K jeep thats just fine.

well mine is about a month old and I have some issues with water leak. The water that I have seen is under the spare tire and don't know where it comes from. I will see what's going on with it at my first service at 2.500 km. I hope it's not a leak. Will update when the time will come. So for now I will just say "no problem"

There has been quite a bit of talk about water leaks in these forums. You might want to do a search and see what spots others have had an issue with. (Since the water is under the spare tire I would assume rear light would be the most probable place if there is a leak?)

I have had a few issues so far in my first year of ownership, none were devastating...:
-Every stock speaker has gone bad (all at different times)
-I had a radiator hose break and need replacement
-I do have a creak in the front suspension (may be the roll-bar connection) but dealership conveniently just can't seem to find it or hear it.

Tony thank you. I already know that there's a lot of talk in the forum about this problem. At this point I just leaving it as it is. It's not a big leak. It's very small but I still looking it. When I'll go to my dealer for a service I will fix the problem and of course do all the reading that it will be necessary for it so I could know the spots for the leaking. I think it's somewhere form the rear bumper because at the back of it I've seen water. I hope when they placed the park assist to my riot they didn't mess up with the rear bumper. I will see it again

Should have suspension in the list

Had my Pat for 6 months now, and these are the major'ish' issues: -

* Battery was dead on purchase (Replaced by dealer)
* Auto feature on drivers Electric window does not function
* Radio seems to reset its time and intermittently does not tune into any radio station
* Front suspension is noisy going over road bumps (though in the UK, we call them sleeping policemen for some reason)
* The fuel gauge has absolutely no idea how much fuel is in the car

I agree with AbqPatriot, Suspension should go on the list, as well as Instrument Panel.

I am sorry about ommisions guys, but i don't think i can edit the poll(for obvious reasons I guess:D)in order to insert new categories. The instrument panel could go in the electronics category though.

The electronics category is where I placed my gas gauge issue.

Let me tell you this .The direct opponent of Patriot in Europe is Volkswagen Tiguan, which all agree that is very well build and has quality components. In the Greek Tiguan forum in a similar poll out of 76 voters the "no problem at all" category is 44% and the "rattle" category is 17%.I wish more people would vote here so we could compare the results.

The only thing I've done on mine is lower the headlite beams.... got tired of other drivers flashing me at nite.
Still relatively new, no issues yet! :smiley_thumbs_up:

6 months running now and even during freezing winter no problems, except a very minor one. With radio off at higher speed I noticed some wind noise from the top of driver`s side door. Didn`t want to mess with the door hinges and lock to tighten things up, so I just taped a narrow strap of foam (used to seal house door and window edges) to the top of the door where it meets the rubber molding when closed and now the wind noise is gone. You don`t even notice the strip on the door `cause it`s dark grey color exactlz matching the car color ;)

There is a rattle coming from the engine at 2700 RPM and 6000 RPM. They replaced something a few months ago (PN: CH4693326AC and CH4693327AC) the noise is still there. My Pat is presently at the garage for the day. I will know tonight if they fix it.

I also have the "Flying Hood".

The good news; next week I will have my Rock Sliders ON.

OH! the garage gave($40) me a Dodge Caliber for the day:(. I want my PAT back.:Racing:

After few months, the problem is fixed. The noise or the rattle at 2600 RPM was from the converter Catalytic. Now I have a brand new Converter:smiley_thumbs_up: I did not paid the $955 for the pieces.
Description:

11500127 Converter Catalytic Replace 2.4L-AWD
1 5105408AD Converter
1 5105615AB Gasket
1 1555A185 Gasket
11000140 Exhaust System - Align.

They Replaced the Catalytic Converter and Aligned Exhaust.

You guys here and other threads are scaring me.....grinding trannys, water leaks, tie rods, cats, .....my '02 Impreza needed an ignition coil at 30K miles, and o rings (twice) to fix faulty A/C under warranty, and a water pump at 48K. 02 sensors went out right after warranty. Cat covered until 80K miles.

I better re-read my warranty book carefully.
