Curious re. Australian release price, date, and model options... Any ideas?

Good questions - I have visited 2 Jeep Dealers in Sydney & they really don't know many details about the Patriot. One said that I know more than they do (thanks to this site) as Jeep does not tell the salespeople too much ahead of release date as they want them to sell the cars that are available now. Suggested I look at Compass as "it is similar!". They said base price in A$ should be similar to base Compass price here. That means starting at around A$32K. That seems in line with US pricing + currency exchange rate + our import duty here. Limited Patriot with FDII, leather options I am expecting to be around / over A$40K.

In regards to the release date in Australia best I can get is "end of 3rd quarter", I am assuming this will be September onwards. I have pretty much decided that the Limited Patriot is car I will buy. Was intending to call Chrysler Jeep directly to get some answers. Be good to actually see one up close. I am going to US for work next month and will check the Patriot out then. Any other Aussies out there with any more details ?

By using the Australian price of the Compass Limited petrol (RRP) and comparing this with a nearly identical model's price on jeep.com (accounting for all 'standard options'), the relative price difference is much lower than the current exchange rate (USD/AUD). A Jeep Patriot Limited 4x4 (Freedom Drive 1) with all extras (inc. sunroof, speakers, etc.) should cost between $40,000 and $41,000 in Australia.

Ps. For those who want to know, York Motors (Jeep, Rushcutters Bay Sydney) are conducting their in-house training for the Patriot in 1 month, which apparently precludes the actual release by a month (i.e. 2 months until release). :banana:

I work in Darling Point, thought York seemed the best place to go - I'll shop around but I doubt they would charge a higher price than another dealership despite their location. Have you dealt with any Jeeps/Jeep Dealerships in Aus? (I haven't - anything I should know?).
