The way that the nav comes, you cannot plug an ipod directly into it, you either have to FM modulate it or get and ipod adapter or kit aftermarket installed. MP3 capability means that you can put mp3 files onto a disc and play them through the stereo. Doing it that way you can get up near 200 or so songs on a single disc becuase you're just putting the files on the disc and then the head unit decodes them. It's not like making an audio cd where you can only put 80 minutes on a disc.

Yes, from Mopar. I can't get a direct link to the right page to work so go to www.mopar.com - click "Jeep Accessories" then choose Patriot on the next page then click "Audio, Video and Electronics" then "iPod", then "Audio, iPod Interface" and the top one is the one you would need (part #82209617AB), kinda pricey though but it would get the job done.

what does that include...im not really getting an idea from the website
how does it plug in and where?
it seems that this would only be if you had the radio with the aux input already??

Check out this site http://www.wkjeeps.com/iPod.htm it has a little bit more detail along with a full installation guide. It's something I would suggest you have Jeep install for you unless you are installation savvy on car electronics.

We are having the mopar i pot kit installed to our nav unit as soon as the parts come in. It hooks into the back of the unit from under the dash and the cord runs to your glove box so you hook it up and store it in there and use your radio controls to work it. This was something we made the dealer throw in for the deal so im not sure how much it costs. If im correct it keeps it charged also.

Seems like you have looked into it before, my qustion is as you where looking into it did you notice anywhere if my 80 gig video i pod would play my shows and movies on the screen? That would be nifty, but I also know the laws for front seat mounted monitors so there is probably some type of block for these features.

That would be really nice if it would do that, but I haven't seen anything anywhere that even hinted that it would so my guess is no. Or if anything it would just play the sound from the movie/show. Can't be completely sure though seeing as I have not used this kit myself, I have just been looking into them.
