I looked at two Patriots at a dealer today. When I pulled the door handles on both, I was very surprised that they seemed loose. I tried all handles on both cars and had the same result. The portion that is meant to move does so correctly, but the side which should remain solidly attached to the car was loose on both. My Cherokee's door handles seem indestructable. Anyone have a similar experience?

I haven't notice but will check mine to see if they are loose.

Just went to mine and tried the door handles. Don't seem to have anything loose. Might want to have the dealer service center check it out.

Ok, so I went and tried them too while I was out shopping. I tried it when the doors were unlocked and not a problem, but then thought well what if they were locked. So I tried that and you're right! They jiggle quite a bit. That, and the whole thing is plastic, even the catch that keeps it from pulling out too far. It also makes the metal dimple and wobble. It's pretty secure if you wiggle it up and down but when you pull it out and wiggle it, it's jiggles quite a bit.

Whats not made out of plastic these days.:confused: When I checked out a patriot at the NYAS, the doors handles seemed perfectly fine to me. They were pretty responsive and springy. They weren't that much different from the handles on my mom's Volvo XC90.

I checked the doorhandles today and they are fine even when the doors are locked. Typical for vehicles in this class. The only thing I noticed is some of the gasket poking through between where the door handle meets the door.

I see what your talking about now. I locked mine and the wiggled a bit and doesn't unlocked. Probably has to due to the locking mechanism and since it move to lock and unlock the door I would not worry about it.
