Really liked it. Coming from an '05 Escape so Im looking for a smoother ride. Really wanted to go to a 6 cylinder, so my biggest roadblock to getting a Patriot is if the 4 has enough power.

Very intrigued by it though. Went to test a Dodge Nitro, didnt like it, but left very impressed by the Patriot.

that's for sure a 4 hasnt the torque of a 6, but its 172 hp is as much as a lot of small 6 you find in light SUV's. Do you realy need 250hp in a small SUV?

Hi rbm - I had the dealer pull a Nitro and the Patriot side by side after I had test drove the Patriot. When I saw them together I started to lean towards the Nitro - just slightly - but as soon as I sat down in the Nitro I told the sales guy No Way. The interior was all wrong and the positioning of the gas pedal to the floor console was very awkward.

Agree with those things you said about the Nitro, but thats without mentioning the choppy, uneven ride. Not fun at all. The Patriot was real smooth. Probably because of that CVT
