So a salesman at the dealership told me that the reason i am not seeing any pats with sunroofs is because the "ridges" on the roof make it hard for the factory to install...the compass doesnt have these ridges apparently...sooo...wtf, has anyone seen a pat with a sunroof?

What an idiot, you better drive far away to another dealer, I wouldn't even mess with this one.

Sucks that you will even have to take it to the closer one for service.

You would think, If we can get online and learn so much about the patriot, then for god's sake they could provide a damn video or some kinda training for these "stoooooopid" sales freaks.

Have been to five dealers in South Carolina, one in NC and one in GA.

Chocked FULL of idiots!!!!!!!!

Now as for the sunroof, I have seen 3 and they are fine, and don't let them talk you into letting some "Local Yokel" cut one in for you.

FREAKS, I tell you!!! FREEEAKS!!

Have a nice day.

yea even on the jeep website, if you do the build and price, the auto sunroof is an option for $800 i think:smiley_thumbs_up:

The factory sunroof is $800. If you find a Patriot you like and it doesn't have a sunroof, you can take it to a REPUTABLE company - I recommend American Sunfoor Corporation (ASC). They're the ones who made their fortunes doing coupe-to-convertible conversions for the "factory" mid eighties Mustangs and LeBarons. For a Patriot, they charge $1100. (not bad) and guarantee that it'll be of original equipment quality. Plus, it has an auto-close feature which shuts the panel automatically if you lock and walk away from your Patriot leaving the sunroof open.

I'm seriously thinking about going to a reputable place and having a sun roof put in. That was teh ONE thing that I really wanted (and didn't get). The salesman at my dealership actually did tell me they would install one for me.

You know something I have found is that dealerships aren't as stupid as the may seem to be at first. Probably about 1/2 the time a dealership says it "cant be done" what they mean is "I would make a lot more money if you just bought this car without those options so I will tell you it cant be done to increase my chances of convincing you to settle without it."

To anyone who has the Sirius and the Nvigation system installed, what type of antenna is on top of the Patriot.

Shark Fin?

Short post that leans to the rear?

Plain old thing that looks like the magnetic one that comes with a Sirius radio?

Post a pic please.

Oh really? I didn't know that. I just assumed the SIRIUS had a built-in antenna or used the radio one. :smiley_thumbs_up:

The the top view of my DIRTY black Patriot, showing the sunroom and Sirius antenna in the back.

Otherwise, there are no traditional antennas on the vehicle for AM/FM.

Believe it or not, Patriots with factory-installed sunroofs DO NOT have a hole punched in the solid steel top - they have a completely different roof panel with the hole already in place.

Patriots without sunroofs (Sport & Limited) have roof ridges which run from the tailgate almost all the way to the windshield header. Pats with factory-installed sunroofs have a different roof panel featuring ridges which stop more than 2 feet short of the windshield header.

So the dumb dealer was at least partially right - installing an after-market sunroof in a Patriot is complicated in that the roof ridges have to be sealed. I'll bet that they leak and produce unacceptable levels of wind noise (when closed) at highway speeds...

Now I'm glad the dealer wrecked the Pat they sold me (before I took delivery) after talking me into an after-market sunroof, and I walked away. I don't think I would have been happy with its performance, and REALLY would not have liked being lied to by the dealer when they said it was "indistinguishable from factory."

Bobbyt, you did the right thing walking away. The dopey dealer deserves that car back - but he will just unload it on the next unsuspecting customer who walks through his door - "custom sunroof" hah
