In Progress: a list of mods to get before the 2016 Baja 1000. I could use some input here, you guys know what I'm planning on doing.
RRO Supersliders: $400
ECU tuner: $450
Trailer hitch: $200
Trailer: $2500
Paint job(02, flag, etc.): $500
Spark plugs: $25/set
Tires: $5700
Rims: $3500
Lift kit: $2k-$2500
Goodyear SilentArmors, maybe 6 sets of 'em for backups(Baja isn't known for being good to tires). Probly 4-6 sets of rims. I did some checking, the SilentArmors seem like good tires on and off the road and decent in alot of different terrain settings.
Not to come off as an A-hole but it looks like a I want to do list. When you build it post some nice photos. My build list is I want a $ MILLION $ ...... Will post photos after I get it.
yeah, well, it's more or less a work in progress. Just bought a set of Champion double platinum spark plugs, trying to figure out how to install them. I'll look for another thread on it. Starting trucking with Werner in about a week here, gonna be buying stuff up as I earn the money for it.
Installed the spark plugs, but the engine has some sort of misfire or something now. Gonna need to wait until after orientation to fix it though, as the bus to get there leaves tomorrow
spark plugs are double platinums, engine seems to misfire or something since I installed them. Don't know if I pulled a wire when pulling out the plug boots
performance. 2016 Baja, remember? Time to 55mph seems to be reduced, but idling and staying at constant rpms at speed aren't so good. Might need to get the new plugs gapped, check wiring, etc.
Well the Patriot was designed for copper plugs.. I don't see any benefit of having double platinum plugs other than wasting money. I'm sure your Patriot would run a lot better if you put the correct plugs in it.
maybe. The Auto Value parts finder matched those plugs among others with the Jeep Patriot 2.4L. I'll check that though, just in case. In the meantime, you wouldn't happen to know about full front-end grill/brush guards that wrap around a little, like on some pickup trucks?
Most useful "build thread" ever lmao 'Here's my build thread...completely stock with a CB and dukes of hazard horn that's duct taped to the plastic engine cover (last I saw/heard). Oh and I have new spark plugs that are possibly ruining my engines performance, that's a mod right?' lmao I agree with Earthworm...this is a "I wish I was a millionaire" thread. 6 sets of Goodyear SilentArmors? What Baja team races with Silent Armors? None dude...when you get actual realistic goals come back to making this thread. Hell, when you start buying things you could declare this as a Build Thread...but for now, it's a obnoxious dream sheet.
Ahh, I believe there are several threads here that discuss people changing out the stock plugs for performance ones. In the end, some went back to stock and previous performance returned. Like PatriotMB, Er, LibertyMB stated, not as conductive. Maybe change the coils packs first, then the plugs, as long as the computer doesn't throw a code out. Maybe?
Copper is more conductive than platinum .... however swap platinum plugs out from copper plugs and you will see zero difference in MPG, performance, emissions, etc. You are speaking of a miniscule difference in conductivity .... its not like one is trying to swap their copper plugs with wood ones.
Copper is soft and rapidly wears down from heat/pressure. Copper does not heat at high as platinum thus fouling occurs = less MPG. That wear also causes a larger air gap thus reducing MPG as well. Platinum reduces the size of the fine wire tip thus reducing quenching and needs less voltage for the spark to jump the gap. Platinum also creates more of a complete burn thus eliminating fouling and since its so hard it is not subject to the physical wear/air gap.
I see you just have a thing for copper .... that's special. Continue to constantly replace your plugs which will equate in a higher cost and you spending much more time by performing multiple installations rather than by putting platinum (or iridium for that matter) with no increased benefits (MPG, HP, etc).
So you claim there is no benefit using one over the other which I clearly have shown otherwise, followed by disagreeing with your only argument being "because it says so in the manual", than stating I know nothing, ending with a "whatever"! Who's the one babbling now :icon_rolleyes:
The patriot per the manual specifically calls for its Japanese NGK copper plugs to be replaced every 32,000 miles. Cheapest I see em for is $12.75 for a set of 4 (3.18 each). You will replace your plugs nearly 4 times in the time the platinum's need replacement and you will spend $51.00 and three extra wasted days of changing plugs. Oh and the platinum's are on sale right now for $1.74 each ... yup that's a single $6.96 expense (Yes, the platinum's are half the cost of coppers).
You babbling Tiburon driver on a Jeep Patriot Forum. Trolling for any and every debate that comes along. You're sounding like an A-Hole. You're not even in the game let alone the Park. Then again whatever blows your Skirt up.......... Sound off.
