Scratches in windshield

So I bought a new to me cheap POS car. Its actually pretty decent for how cheap it is. but One of the things that is driving me crazy is that it has a scratch in the windshield from the wiper blade movement, I don't know if there was a rock or something, but its scratched pretty good.

Does anybody have any suggestions on what to use to either polish it out, or fill it? its right in the driver's line of site.

You could try using this, I heard it's supposed to work well. It's meant to be used with a polisher, but if you don't have one available I'm sure you would still get some improvement if you put enough elbow grease into it by hand

Griot's Garage 11074 Glass Polish, (Set of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AX4TW98/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_7oBcxbPB4JD15
Griot's Garage 11033 Glass Sealant - 8 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AX4TWCA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_UtBcxb6FGD182

Here's specific polishing pads for it if you have a polisher available
Griot's Garage 10614 6" Glass Polishing Pad, (Set of 3) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004UQIUKW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_AsBcxbQ064E7W

This guy explains the whole process real well

Yeah, that would definitely work better than doing it by hand. Apparently tooth paste and baking soda mixed with water work to polish glass. I've tried both of those on my phone screen before and the tooth paste sorta worked

While we're on this subject, I have the original windshield in my patriot, and it's pitting all over...drives me crazy when I'm driving into direct sunlight. I've never gotten to polishing it yet, so hopefully when I do it might help it a little

alero, 3.4l, the 3.8 wasn't available in the alero.

i've had one before, it was a 2.2l which was also very reliable, and I liked it, but sold it to pay off some other medical debts.... I picked an alero because it was a known quantity, having owned one before, I knew what I liked and what I didn't like about it.

I've always known the rule of thumb for windshield / auto glass scratches to be that if you can catch your fingernail in it, it will not polish out...

Stop by the local auto glass shop and see what they say about it, maybe it could at least be made more transparent etc.
The may also be able to install a salvaged or after market windshield on the cheap side.

Well..... I have to admit it feels pretty slow to me, However, I am used to a my very low geared infiniti G35 that had 130 MORE horsepower from its 3.5l 6, and 60 more ft/lbs of torque. I also think it needs a tune up, maybe a clean air filter as well. It did A LOT of sitting.

if I get on it, it will scoot, but its geared pretty high, at 80mph, its only turning over at like ~2400rpm. It really feels like the definition of a lazy v6. but it is 400lbs lighter than the infiniti.

I think the 4 cyl is a bit more sporty feeling since it is lighter by 200lbs, but I also had much wider high performance tires vs 80k mile tires that are on it now, and brand new shocks.

Planning on upgrading the shocks soon, so that might help.

Scratches, chips, and cracks are covered by my insurance. They sent a guy out, he did his thing, I shook his hand, said thank you, and that was that. The same for my parents insurance too. May want to see if its covered by yours before you spend money and time doing it yourself.
