I guess you can't even get stock skid plates for them. I think I will stick with the patriot. I still wish the grand cherokee had a 3 row option. MrMischief is right, the commander sucks.

Religion has convinced people that there’s an invisible man…living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn’t want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer and burn and scream until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you and he needs money.

what about a 3rd gen durango? it has a 3rd row, and is the same platform as a grand cherokee. I don't see a whole lot about its awd drive train though, I would have to do more research.

what about an older tahoe? my parents still have their 04, and its a badass off road, and fits like 36 people in it.

The current durango doesn't even come with an off road package. Its too bad because it would be a great choice if it did. I am keeping my eye out for a up to date 3rd row off roader that doesn't cost a fortune.

what are your other requirements? year, price, etc?

what do you not want?

You can buy a JKU and add a third row:

Cage, third row seating, coil-overs, and underseat drawer

I'd like a vehicle with a 3rd row with off road capability(skid plates and tow hooks at the minimum) and be the newest generation of that kind of vehicle. I was looking at that third row thing for the JKU. I don't like modding my vehicle much though. I wonder if they will come out with a 3rd row wrangler this year?
I also thought it is interesting they don't make the third row mod for the current grand cherokee. They made the mod for the last gen grand cherokee.

You're looking at a land rover range rover/discovery, toyota land cruiser... and a tahoe (and its variants).

Or you'll have to go back a few gens to like a ford explorer (up to 2010) and its variants, or an older durango (up to 2009) and its variants.

the era of real 4x4's is ending, and the first to go were ones with a 3rd row...

supposedly there is supposed to be a grand wagoneer on the horizon, but it keeps getting pushed.

maybe a VW Touareg? I cannot find details on its awd system to see if it has a low range transfer case.

Yeah those top vehicles are too expensive for me. Its too bad that 4x4s are getting replaced by egg shaped crossovers. I guess that means less people on the trails though and more fun for people who actually have an off road vehicle.

Nah, more people than ever are on the trails, they just buy those side by sides and destroy the trails, go off trails, drive too fast, and overall are worse than any group of jeepers I've come across.

I haven't been seeing many side by sides around here much. Its usually extra rare when I do see one. Here people are still using wranglers mostly and some trucks.

Haa...either you're really lucky or you need to get out more often.

Like 'cirlces said, those things are all over the place; tailgating, driving too fast, no trail manners, etc.

Unfortunately, I think side by's are a long term trend. We'll see more and more of them, not less.

15" Ravine Rims, 235/75/15 Duratracs, CRDSTU coils, JKS Quicker Disconnects, Airbox Baffle Mod., Midland 822 CB w/ 2' Firestik II, Weathertec floor liners.

I think for a tow, side by sides are way too expensive. You can buy a brand new car for the price of some of those side by sides.
