Severe Weather Assistance Team

Saw a bit on CBC regarding the Nova Scotia Jeep Club going out and running people to critical jobs during the big snow storm that hit a week back.

Between that, and the fact I was out Friday the 8th rescuing my wife and her Calibre and making trails for my neighbours to get down the back alley, made me thing that this might be a good idea for the GTA.

Any Patriot owners who want to join up?

My day was made when I was 3/4ths down the back alley making a trail when I was forced to back out of the alley because someone in their Acura SUV turned toward me rather then the shorter distance out of the alley. They got stuck, and could not back up out of the alley. So... I backed out, broke down the drifts at the end, and let them follow me out.

I've owned my Patriot for 2 years, waiting for a "real" snow fall to test it in. Finally got that in spades, the neighbourhood had snow deep enough I was dragging the undercarriage though it. I didn't break a sweat, turned off the ESC, dropped it into gear, and turned on the 4x4 lock. Hardly knew I was in axel deep snow.

Good idea,
While bit difficult to do citywide,
Can do it neighborhood wide.
My community in pa has something similar.
You register yourself with the community with list of equipment. Plow/ham radio etc...
Get called up in emergencies, and have a red light on the porch so others know your available to help

Our team here falls under the Denver Office of Emergency Management. When the forecast is for more than 6 inches of snow we are put on alert. If the OEM activates us the dispatchers report to the Emergency Operations Center in the basement of the city / county building where we maintain 3 dispatch seats. Our communications are done via cell phones primarily but most drivers also use cb units. Not ideal, but what you gonna do for a group of volunteers?

Don't see why not, if I can get enough people together to approach the local authorities.
