How can I buy a 2011 Patriot Diesel ?

I have been checking on SUV's for several months now, and settled on purchasing a Patriot. I currently drive a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder that is on it's last legs. I am not enamored of the Patriot's reliability ratings, but the fuel consumption is great for an SUV that can go off road. Then I saw the 2011 Diesel version, and that is definitely the way I want to go. Anyone figured out how to buy one since Jeep won't be offering it in North America ?

Yep, move to Europe or Australia. That seems to be your only option. That or fly up to Rockford, get a ride to Belvedere and try to steal one from the plant

You would need to re-import a Left hand drive export model from Europe ie Holland , Germany, Denmark , Finland etc . An exported UK or Australian CRD Pat . would be of no use to you as the steering wheel is on the wrong side & the lighting would be wrong for USA . All this would cost Mega$$ & would involve a shipping & customs agent , plus the fact that all the red tape to register a diesel in your state just wouldnt be worth it!!

Just swapped red Classic X , for, Green Auto SE " Spirit " 2.5 Petrol Limited edition X still 4x4,

I can see it now Weatherman:

News story:
"A man was arrested outside of the Belvedere Plant today attempting to steal a new Jeep Patriot".

"The police questioned the suspect and he claims he was given permission to steal the vehicle from a guy named Weatherman on the internet"

"The police are now tracking down this Weatherman as a person of interest in this case."

I think one way you can get around it is by importing a "front clip". Have them include the dash, you'll need the wire harness. This way it's not a complete car, so no issues with registration or US safety standards. Then replace your powertrain with the imported one. Of course this is by no means easy or cheap, and you'll never recoup the costs no matter how much fuel you save.

No go on the Diesel 2011 Patriot

Thanks for the fine suggestions. The easiest and cheapest way is the theft option, but jail time isn't my thing. I called Jeep, and did some checking on the internet. Jeep would have to certify the Mercedes Benz 2.2 liter engine through the EPA to start selling them in the USA, which is something they apparently don't think is worth the cost. There are plenty of other diesels on the market, but looks like Jeep vehicles aren't going to be among them.

Weatherman, no doubt if you are spending that kind of money you could easily do a real SAS swap, perhaps throw in a cummins 4bt 3.9L diesel and a proper transfer case.

Well, the current one is a VW TDI engine and trans, so maybe a US made Jetta/Golf could work for the engine transplant but you would still need to import the Transmission, PTU and RDU to complete the 4x4 drive train. Or make a custom adapter to the existing CVT or Manual 5 speed. A lot of coin either way.
