Smile Patriot newbie

Hey all!

Just picked up an 08 with 4WD and a 5 speed and 88,000 miles a little over a week ago. So far I really enjoy it!

It's replacing a 98 XJ that met its untimely demise (it only had 104k on it, rust free) thanks to an 8-point buck at 50mph.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to checking out what the forum has to offer. I don't plan on doing much to the Jeep, but I do occasionally do little mods to personalize and improve it a bit and the sound system is definitely first up for an upgrade.

Welcome to the forum, though sorry to learn of your need for a replacement vehicle. Trust you and your passengers are OK. Better a deer than a moose. "Hit a deer wreck your car; hit a moose wreck your life."

Have you mounted the deerhead over the fireplace? (Nobody needs to know how you took it)

Did they let you keep the victim? Not enough meat there to pay for a new vehicle, but enough to keep you eating venison for many months. Around here they offer it to whoever hit it. If they don't want it, it often goes to the county home. When I took out a deer a few years ago I was in no position to take her home. I asked the sheriff if he knew someone who could use it. "Oh yeah. We've got a list." His partner got on the horn (pardon the pun) and found someone who wanted to fill their freezer.
