Electronic Throttle Control

Much like everyone else that's described it, I get the ETC lights, ESP light and loss of power. I turned it off and back on and it seemed fine. The service department looked at it and my ETC is shot. Approximately $525 to replace.

If they ever tell me that, mine's going to get a cable and a spring like a real car.

These very rarely FAIL, Get a second opinion. Bet if you just disconnect the battery, clean the connector to the ETC, and reconnect, you will be fine.
Did you check for any TSB, or flash updates for your Jeep?

What year? Model, Engine? Miles? May be covered buy the Emission Control Warranty

The ETC's are way more reliable than a cable. Order's of magnitude more reliable.

The one down side is that they are harder to fix/replace. Otherwise, they are the better engineered solution.

Actually I just said cable because that is what most people are used to. I'd actually build steel linkage and bell cranks like the Willys.

I'd like to see the setup. It would be interesting to see how you join a physical link like that to a computerized system.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

Remember, you're talking to the guy who added factory AMC/Perfect Circle 1969 cruise control to a 1960 Willys wagon. I even made custom control buttons to match the original dash components.

My sprint booster plugged into the top of the accelerator pedal with a multi pin connector. Where it goes from there and what it controls remains a mystery to me.
